Bhuvi has completely forgotten how to bat of late. He was such a good technical batsman previously.

When will Kumar make runs again? What a contrast to Aussie fast bowlers.

And Saha gone as well. Proper collapse again.

Yup, I yearn for the days when our 9 through 11 batsmen will make a substantial contribution of runs. Thankfully, our 6-8 have started doing better.

Saha was ducking so nicely, why did he have to fend at that one?

We've just let Cummins ruffle our feathers for no reason. There was no need to Jadeja to let his ego take over and play on.

Bhuvi should have developed into a Philander but both his batting and bowling are struggling of late. A few more clicks on the speedo but lost his accuracy and movement.

It might be better to declare at lunch rather than waste the innings changeover time. Time will become a factor in this match.

Kuldeep is showing decent technique as expected. Such a shame that Bhuvi and Saha couldn't hang around with the young kid.

Done and dusted. Disappointing but I'll take it. Wish we put a premium on our last few wickets. It really puts us on backfoot almost every time. But, out 6-8 have saved us the blushes.

Time for bed. Hope to wake up to an advantageous position.

I used to think the same especially since Cummins has got about 5 wickets in the last two matches with the short ball. I think it is a natural, instinctive reaction to save your face using your hand/bat. It is perhaps not a rational, thought-out response. So, the only way to prevent that is to rehearse in your mind and sway away. Saha was ducking the short ball consistently before. Maybe there was a surprise bounce here so that he did not/could not duck down/sway away in time.

The remedy, of course, is to ban bowlers trying to hit a batsman physically and get him out. This legalized form of bodyline bowling is pure cowardice. Unfortunately, cricket considers it legal. This is perhaps a holdover from the Anglo days when such rascalry was considered fine.

Saha needs to get more singles. He was too slow. That allows the bowler to do whatever they want.

After Jadeja got to 50, Kohli got up and walked ahead. He tried to signal to Jadeja by waving his arms. After he made eye-contact, he used his arms again to ask him to settle down. This was before the bouncer barrage. He knew Jadeja may try to hit. Jadeja, by nature, is carefree. This is a guy, who nearing a century, tried to hit out even though there was enough time left in the match and got out at 90. We walked off smiling and not regretting his shot. Today, he did regret his shot. I don't know if the bouncer barrage got him but it seemed to me that Jadeja actually did fine with the bouncers. Maybe it unruffled his concentration. As for the cover drive with his legs rooted, that is his technical deficiency. He never is a copybook batsman. Which is why his overseas batting record is so-so. He got 4s before that with similar shots. This time, he dragged it on. At the end, we got the runs because he took the initiative. I am okay with this effort by Jadeja. It was a good knock.

India take a thin lead of 32 in the first innings. Poor way to fold up after a good start this morning. Jadeja got provoked by the Aussie sledging: the Indians should learn to stay calm amid the inevitable sledging by the Australians.

It's now up to our bowlers to regain the initiative.

Was Jadeja thinking of a bouncer when he did not move his feet and tried to slash at the ball? I have seen him slash even without facing bouncers. Maybe if he is in a press conference, we will know later.

32 is a small lead , we need to be really careful in not letting Aus get off to a quick start like first inning

As i write first 7 balls 8 scores scored..
