I think he has indeed made the cut at T47. Phew!
Bubba Watson, at 6-over, was the 57th and last one to make the cut. Mickelson, Els and Vijay Singh all failed to make the cut.

Anirban did not have a good round (3-over par) and so he would remain at around T40 as there are a few players above him who are still playing and likely to drop couple of shots.

Score after IIIrd round

T42 Anirban Lahiri 8 76 73 75

Anirban is having problems in finishing the round as he is +8 on last four holes (15 to 18) in three days, while even par on 1 to 14. At the end of 3rd round he is T38.
It was a tough windy day and very few broke the par. The leader Speith did well to finish 1 over and maintained his top position wit -3, 11 strokes better than Anirban.

T38 is decent but nothing to write home about. Not materially better than last year, although he had a much better day 1 last year.

Anirban Lahiri finished T42, slightly better than last year's T49, but nothing to write home about. The T5 at last year's PGA championship remains his one standout performance in a golf major (the best by an Indian at any major). But he has struggled at the Masters both years.

I'll say T42 is like winning two rounds in Wimbledon. Probably nothing much to write about :)

Agree with Ajay that a top-50 ranking and top-50 finish in a major is pretty noteworthy for Indian standards (i.e., that is a rarefied achievement for Indian in golf). Of course, it is difficult to compare across different sports, but if you compare prize money, Anirban's effort probably ranks pretty high with our best in most individual sports...

Agree it is huge in prize money terms for an Indian in any sport.
But consider the winner, Danny Willetts, for a moment. His very first PGA tour title turned out to be the Masters! He had won fewer EPGA and APGA tournaments than Lahiri before this event, his previous major performances were quite similar to Lahiri (T6 at the British Open last year being his best, otherwise T30-50 finishes in others), but now he is a major winner. The beauty of golf is that this happens quite often (in the non-Tiger era!).

True enough! And we haven't had anyone do that in men's tennis for a very long time. So actually a pretty big deal!

One bright thing is that Anirban moves from #100 to #90 in the Fedex cup rankings...

But drops down to #52 in the world rankings...

Jeev Milkha Singh just missed out on qualifying for this week's US Open at the European qualifying tournament last week...
He was the First Alternate...
Now, he has got in the field as Jaidee has withdrawn and thus allowing Jeev in
So we have Anirban and Jeev playing in the second Major of the year.
:goodluck: to both. Hope Jeev gets his form back in this tough course.

Last time the two Indians played in a Major is US Open itself. In 2015 Shiv Kapur & Anirban Lahiri had qualified for the same.

Rain affected first round is completed Friday morning ... The second round is going on ... After first round Anirban is 3 over and Jeev is 6 over.

Anirban had 2 birdies and 2 bogeys on back 9 but he had double bogey on 2nd hole and then another bogey on 6th hole ... Other hand Jeev had one double bogey, seven bogeys and three birdies in his roller-coaster round .. At one time he was one under after five holes but after that everything went southward.

At $10M US Open, Oakmont

T51 Anirban Lahiri (IND) 73 +3
T106 Jeev Milkha Singh (IND) 76 +6
