P. Harikrishna became only the second Indian player after Anand to gain entry into elite Group A event of Tata Steel Corus Chess tournament next year. This was after he won the Group B title this week with a draw in the last round.

Well done, Harikrishna. He will have good opportunity to play against elite players next year.

The ongoing Reykjavik Open 2012 tournament has good international participation with star players like Fabiano Caruana (2767) David Navara (2700), women world champ Yifan Hou (2639)

There are four Indians are participating (I did not know anyone), but no one is GM. The India participants are:

IM Akshayraj Kore 2422
CM Arjun Bharat 2210
WFM Dave Dhyani 2205
--- Bharat Vijay 1941

From the Indian side the story is that Akshayraj is really doing well. After 8 rounds, he has 6 wins and 2 losses and currently at 8th position. With one round to go, he is one point behind leader Caruana (7 pts)
That is really impressive performance. He is the only non GM among top 20 playerw. He now plays GM Jones Gawain(2635) in the final round. That would be a tough game. Good luck!

I've said earlier too and I'll repeat that I'm really impressed with Women world champ Yifan. Yifan with 6.5 pts is once again doing very well. In the final round she plays the tournament leader Caruana. She has a chance to win an open tournament once again.

I notice that the venue is "Yavanika". That means, when you get there itself, it's already "curtains" for all of you trying to beat Viswanathan :)

Gibraltar 2013

Sandipan Chanda, with a score of 8.0/10, finished tied 1st with Vitiugov, Vachier-Lagrave & Short, thanks to his strong burst in the end with 2 wins against 2700+ players Shirov & Le Quang Liam.
In the play-off for the 1st, Sandipan lost 0.5-1.5 to Vitiugov, who was the eventual champion......, Sandipan finished 3rd on tie-break.....

His current rating of 2590 is the lowest in the last 3-and-a-half years.... With this performance he is going to gain ~23 ELO and get him back into the 2600's. Hopefully this is going to be the start of an upward trend for Sandipan and that he betters his current best of 2656....... :goodluck:

Harika & Tania finished #41 & #43 respectively with a score of 6.5/10. Eesha finished #86 with a score of 5.5/10...

I thought of giving you benefit of doubt :) , but you included Ghosh Diptayan with 2.5 points, which is equally notable as the left out 3. So I could not ignore the injustice! :)
