At $25K ITF Women, Nato,Japan

[R1] Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND,677) l. (7) Kyoka OKAMURA (JPN,383) 46 26

Not surprising considering her recent form.

Imo, only concentrating on doubles and ignoring singles at young age does not pay off generally. Perhaps, it takes some sharpness out of your game which leads to bad results in doubles too.

Prarthana is playing only doubles this week in a 25K challenger in Pubela, Mexico (the same place where there is a mens challenger and Purav/ Divij playing).

She has reached the final with her partner.

At $25K ITF Women, Puebla. Mexico

[R1] Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [3] 6-2 6-0 Melissa MORALES (GUA) / Kirsten-Andrea WEEDON (GUA)
[QF] Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [3] 6-4 6-3 Cristiana FERRANDO (ITA) / Michaela HONCOVA (SVK)
[SF] Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [3] 7-5 7-6(5) Victoria RODRIGUEZ (MEX) / Ana Sofia SANCHEZ (MEX)

Next,

[F] (3) Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) vs. (1) Irina KHROMACHEVA (RUS) / Ksenia LYKINA (RUS)

And Prarthana and her Japanese partner upset the top seeds to win the title.

At $25K ITF Women, Puebla,Mexico

[F] (3) Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) d. (1) Irina KHROMACHEVA (RUS) / Ksenia LYKINA (RUS) 64 26 10-8

So, third challenger level doubles title for Prarthana. She should move up to her new career high of around 220 in the doubles with that. She will mostly play another 25K in Mexico next week.

Prarthana continues her doubles partnership with Omae and they are seeded 4th this week.

Excellent win again against a pair of regular CH level players

Prarthana/Omae pair keeps winning

[QF] (4) Prarthana G THOMBARE/Akiko OMAE 3-6 6-3 10-6 Dalma GALFI/Alexandrina NAYDENOVA

In the semifinals, it is a rematch of last week's finals against second seed Russians Ksenia Lykina and Irina Khromacheva. Hope our pair gets the better of their opponents again :goodluck:

PGT/Omae moves on to the finals for the second straight week with a walkover from the Russians as Irina withdrew from her singles QF earlier before the doubles match.

Most probably finals against the Kichenok twins. :goodluck:

Is Prarthana concentrating on doubles in attempt at making a case to partner Sania at Rio?

Yes, I think that's the idea -- she also trains at the Sania Mirza Academy.

Prarthna lost in the final.

At $25K+H Irapuato,Mexico

[F] Lyudmyla KICHENOK (UKR) / Nadiia KICHENOK (UKR) [1] 6-1 6-4 Akiko OMAE (JPN) / Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [4]

Still, these couple of weeks points when updated will take Prarthana close to top 200 in doubles rankings.

This is an article on Prarthana -

Prarthana on the right track

So, she does now train at Sania Mirza tennis academy and has a decent chance to partner Sania at Rio.

PGT is in France playing the $50K+H tournament. I do not think she will be aiming to take part in French Open ? (ranked 218 in doubles) unless until there is a WC waiting for her with a local player (highly unlikely).

At $50K+H Saint-Gaudens , FRA
Qualifying Draw
R1 Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [7] BYE
R2 Audrey ALBIE (FRA) 7-5 6-3 Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) [7]

Doubles draw

R1 Jessica MOORE/ Prarthana G. THOMBARE (IND) vs Tatiana BUA/Alona FOMINA (ARG/UKR)

:goodluck:

@Dinesh...Is that part of your conspiracy to usurp PKB from his "Eternal Optimist" position? ;) ;) ;)

She just won 10-7 in match tie break.
Will she have any chance of playing Wimbledon doubles qualis?

She needs to get her ranking up by 100 places for that.
