Her German opponent looked too powerful for Ankita. Also in the second set, except for a first few games, Ankita seemed to have given up the fight. I think she took a medical timeout and may be having some niggle which affected her. Anyway, disappointing loss after a couple of good wins in WTA qualies.

Ankita is playing another WTA qualies.

At $125K OEC Taipei WTA Challenger

[Q1] (6) Ankita Raina (IND,284) vs. Natela Dzalamidze (RUS,374)

Hope Ankita recovers well from jetlag as she played a match on Friday in Pune.

Ankita holds a 1-0 record against the Russian. Hopefully the jet lag doesn't affect her results this time. Good money and ranking points involved. :goodluck:

From 7-6 4-1 up, Ankita is now tied at 1 set all. 7-6 5-7. Served for the match too. :frown:

At $125K OEC Taipei WTA Challenger

[Q1] (6) Ankita Raina (IND,284) d. Natela Dzalamidze (RUS,374) 76(9) 57 63

Good hard fought win.

Next,

[Q2] (6) Ankita Raina (IND,284) vs. Pei-Chi Lee (TPE,494)

The Taiwanese girl upset the top seed in qualifying today. But, she was beaten by Karman in straight sets last month. The Taiwanese girl would be playing better at home but still Ankita has a good chance to qualify for main draw.

I think the 3 setter match yesterday proved too much for her as she ran out of energy. Wouldn't have been a double bagel otherwise. Feeling sorry for her missing a great opportunity :-(

Still, hard to fathom that she was so tired after a 3 set match on one day that she got double bagled. They do play 3 set matches routinely on the circuit followed by another match on next day.

Ankita is back playing in China challenger and this time directly makes the main draw.

At $60K ITF Women challenger, Quanzhou , China

[R1] RAINA, Ankita (IND,289) vs. GUO, Hanyu (CHN,355)

The Chinese beat Karman in straight sets in Thailand futures final in October. So, she will be tough as you would expect playing in a 60K challenger.

If you recall, it took here a while to get used to the lower "challengers" before she started winning. I have some hopes that her stagnation at the level that you point out is something like that rather than her ceiling.
