At 228 he should have very good odds of making the FO qualies. Excellent performance...

At 1-4 down it looked curtains for Ram as set and break down and with a MTO looked a bit weary, but few games later in entirely contrasting fashion the tables were turned to continue his trademark wins over guys in 125 to 150 range.

Good to see him playing resilient and gritty tennis this week and notch up quality wins, as by the time he had left Taipei and reached Tallahassee it was over 30 hours after changing many airports and transit time and than overcome this punishing jetlag to quickly settle down and get into a winning rhythm is trully remarkable.

The last 2 weeks were very critical for him as he had 50 points to defend and was in danger of spiraling down in the 300 but in his true grit in the last two weeks he has almost achieved those 50 points and with Savanah,Karshi,Samarkand comming up for the next 3 weeks he is well set to get into 175 -185 range.

No, at 4-5 in second set, RamK served and got it to 5-5.

Yet, that is pretty much certain now.

He next plays the similar ranked Italian player who qualified thru and has made the SF.

At $75K Tallahassee Challenger 2017, Florida, USA (green clay)

[SF] Ramkumar Ramanathan (IND,264) vs. (Q) Andrea Arnaboldi (ITA,267)

This is a really important win for RamK as his French open qualifying qualification depended upon a win ...

The latter part of tournaments are really important. They have huge number of points riding on a win there. So, hopefully, RamRama will pull out a few more wins.

What a superb set of wins for RamK, and so perfectly timed to storm into the French Open qualifiers! Two more wins would crown the great week!

Great to see these string of wins. I haven't watched any match of Ram for quite a while - has he become more aggressive on the backhand that quickly (I don't remember him taking a big break too). I mean this is irrespective of his next match result - hoping for the best :)

Also yes I booked my tickets FO Qualies - Mon/Tue and the second weekend (June 2-5). Hopefully can see our guys/gals there in Singles (Qualies/Jnr).

It is 3-3 in the second set. Looking quite close in second set with no breakpoints so far.

And RamK gets the crucial break for 5-4. Now, he has a chance to serve for the match.

Ram should not come to the net unnecessarily. He's losing all of those points. Coming in on a short ball is fine, but I don't like this mindless rushing to the net, especially on clay! :D

He breaks. Now hold serve and win the match 5-4

Damn, 3 match points missed from 40-0 up.

And gets broken losing 5 straight points. :damn:

I agree. Even in last service game, he came into net almost on every second point. Needs to be patient on clay. I think he got too nervous serving for the match and tried to finish point early.

And gets broken again to lose the second set 5-7. :damn: :damn:

What a meltdown from 5-4, 40-0 up.
