As posted in the tournament thread, RamK had a decent outing in $125K Taipei challenger this week. Good upset win over top 150 Korean Duck Hee Lee in the first round and a close third set tie break loss against Japanese top 200 Akira Santilan.

In the last few weeks RamK seems to be playing better than in the earlier period of 4-5 months. However, he needed to go deeper this week to get into reckoning for making it to French open qualies. He now has only next week left in trying to achieve a top 240-250 ranking for entry at French open qualies. He also has 51 points to defend in May. So, he will need some big points somewhere in next few weeks if he has to make it to Wimbledon qualies as well.

It looks like he is making the long trek to US for couple of weeks now instead of playing at qualies of big China/Korea challengers. He is 7 out from main draw from next week's Tallahassee challenger but is in main draw of Savannah challenger the week after that. Then, he returns to Asia and is in the main draw entry list of Karshi Challenger in the week of May 8 along with Yuki and Prajnesh. That will be mostly followed by Samarkand challenger where he SF point to defend from last year.

So, he is giving himself a chance by playing week after week and cris-crossing across the world trying to optimise his winning chances. Hopefully he will succeed in one of these weeks.

Yes, his results have looked much better in the last few weeks even though he has relatively few points to show for it. However, if he can keep winning at the challenger level, the points will eventually come.

Good luck to him in the next few weeks although I wonder if he would actually do better by staying and playing in Asia over the next few weeks....

With host of withdrawals, RamK has made the main draw at next week's Tallahassee challenger. He would have had to play qualies at China Challenger. So, his travelling to US pays off and by getting into main draw he also get a few extra days off after the long travel from Asia.

:goodluck:

He sure did...won it 6-1, 7-5! Next up is James Mcgee, a player ranked 200 with not a great a track record this year. If RamK continues to show this kind of form and hunger, he should win his R2 match.

An unblemished straight sets win  speaks volumes about how significant ability and quality Ram has when playing guys in the 125 to 150 range has , as this and recent results suggest.

Like a surveyors sextant the win exhibit's Ram's true talent and potential and wishing he has a deep run in this tournament.

Wow, great news! Stepped away from a meeting and RamK finished the job quickly for a signature win over the Canadian #3 in the US and potential DC opponent if Raonic isn't available. Yes, a deep challenger is run is due...

Looks like RamK's improved backhand is helping him win matches. He now needs to come up with a string of wins at this level. This is a good start.

Excellent win. Since March, RamK has gone 4-1 against top 200 players. 3 of those 4 wins have been against top 150 players and his only loss was also in a close third set tie break against Santilan.

Hope he continues that trend today against McGee.

I think he also has a loss to Rublev in that span but even at 4-2 this is his best run against quality opposition in the 100-200 range. Hopefully, he'll go further here...
