This is a nice article by Kamesh on Rohan -

Bopanna focused on making it to the top-10

Frankly, it looks a tall task for him to make it back to top 10 after losing in semi finals at Rome masters. Unless he plays one of the two ATP 250 events next week ( where only a title can add a bit to his ranking points), the only tournament left for him before qualies deadline is French open. He reached the third round there last week. I think he will need to get to SF or better to make it back to top 10.

Else, his combined ranking with Leander (67) is just on the borderline for making the cut if it is the same as last time (68).

Although we have little chance of a medal in mens doubles, it is critical to get at least a pair in Rio draws as for mixed doubles players will be chosen from among them who have already qualified for mens/womens doubles. So, if we miss in mens doubles, we also miss mixed doubles.

Rohan doesn't feature in either of the ATP 250 events. Though he is capable of reaching the semis at RG as he has shown in both Madrid and Rome. Good luck

Rohan's ranking moved up a couple of places to #11 this week. So, he is so close to getting into top 10 which will guarantee spot with anyone at Rio Olympics. French open is the last tournament which counts for that.

Rohan made third round there last year and has 180 points to defend of his total of 4980 points. Looking at those above him, #8 Ivan Dodig has title points to defend at French open. So, if he fails to do that and even if he finished runner up, he will lose 800 points and Rohan will overtake him into top 10 irrespective of Rohan's result at FO. Of course, Rohan has to take care that those below him will not overtake him. So, a QF or SF showing will be great and will almost make it certain that he will be in top 10.

Look like good chances of that happening.

As put in the French open thread, Rohan along with Florin has made it to the QF of the French open. With that his chances of re-entering the top 10 of the doubles rankings at the end of this week ( cut off date for Rio) appear bright but still not certain.

His today's QF with Dodig and Melo is crucial. If Rohan ( with Florin) can win that match, he is assured of going above both Dodig and 10th ranked Soares into 9th place. From those below him only Roger Vasselin has a chance to overtake him by winning a title at FO. So, a win today assures Rohan of the top 10 rankings.

If he loses today, he will need following 2 to happen -
1. if Dodig/Melo lose in either SF or final
2.Roger Vasselin (with Benneatau) not winning the title for him to make it to to 10.

Hope he wins it today to nail it.

Rohan/Florin lost in the QF against Dodig/Melo. So, Rohan will need the 2 scenarios which I mentioned above to happen to ensure that he enters top 10 and a guaranteed entry for Rio.

Roger-Vasselin out of the men's doubles. So that clears one hurdle.

Yes, so now it is between Dodig and Rohan for the last spot in top 10.

Besides, Leander is expected to improve his ranking by 3-4 spots to 47-48. So, even if Rohan does not enter top 10, combined ranking of Leander-Rohan of around 58-59 should still be enough to make the cut for Rio.( cut off last time was 68).

But, if Rohan enters top 10, there will be other options too for him besides partnering Leander.
