Postby bujilover » Fri Apr 07, 2017 3:40 pm

I just found out this doubles entry list. It's amazing Jeevan gets back on tour little after a week of his wedding :D Plus, Donald Young as a partner is a bonus.

Bob Bryan (USA) & Mike Bryan (USA)
Juan Sebastian Cabal (Colombia) & Robert Farah (Colombia)
Julio Peralta (Chile) & Horacio Zeballos (Argentina)
Robert Lindstedt (Sweden) & Scott Lipsky (USA)
Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) & Michael Venus (New Zealand)
Leander Paes (India) & Andre Sa (Brazil)
Brian Baker (USA) & Nikola Mektic (Croatia)
Nicholas Monroe (USA) & Artem Sitak (New Zealand)
Purav Raja (India) & Divij Sharan (India)
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (India) & Donald Young (USA)

WC - Dustin Brown (Germany) & Frances Tiafoe (USA)

Busy this weekend, but will see if I can make it to watch some of the doubles next week. I believe last year all the doubles were scheduled during the work day though...

Good to see Jeevan romping in Young as his partner. The american seems to be riding on one of his best seasons of his "off-now, on-again" career. He does not play doubles regularly, but he had a few impressive wins in the past whenever he played.

Worst possible draw any Indian could ask for.

(R1) Leander Paes (IND)/Andre Sa (BRA) vs [1]Bob Bryan (USA)/Mike Bryan (USA)
(R1) Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND)/Donald Young (USA) vs Purav Raja (IND)/Divij Sharan (IND)

Winners of the above two matches play each other in R2

To make the situation even worse, they will likely play quite parallel today. Leander's match the last one on Centre Court while Donald Young and the Indians is played for the grand finale on court 3

The last time Leander played the Bryan twins (at the Quarterfinal stage in Delray Beach earlier this year), LP won (in the company of Yen Hsun-Lu). The PaeSa partnership has not really hit it off -- but maybe this is the moment for them to take off!

By the way, MODERATORS, why is this thread titled "Fayez Sarofim & Co. ..."? We mentioned the name of one tournament that was named after an Indian, but unless there is a special reason like that, I believe we shouldn't use up internet real estate with an advertisement for the sponsor of the tournament -- just "US Clay Court Championship, 2017" should suffice. Any disagreements?

And, apart from fixing the title, can a kind moderator please, please change the all caps to some reasonable capitalization as in the other titles? This title is a major eyesore. Sorry to be so anal about this.

PaeSa down 0-3 in the early going on Centre Court against the Bryan twins.
Update: and it ended quickly in a bagel first set, 0-6.
But PaeSa break in the first game of the second set (on their 3rd break point of the game). 0-6, 1-0
Update: PaeSa still have one break in hand, serving at 4-3 in the second set. 0-6, 4-3.
That was the end of PaeSa's resurgence. Lost 0-6, 4-6.
