[R1] PR-Yuki Bhambri (IND, 307) d. Tatsuma Ito (JPN, 171) 76(2) 62

That's a nice win over a player who was ranked as high as #60 in 2012 (when he was 23). Now aged 28, Ito isn't entirely over the hill yet.

Live rankings have Yuki at 288 now. Another win will take him to about 280.

Yuki takes on Blaz Kavcic in the repeat of R2 at Zhuhai couple of weeks ago where Yuki prevailed in straight sets and surely we can see a rerun of that script. Third match on the Centre Court and hope the Live Stream is working tomorrow.

Ito was going to be tough even though he has dropped down in the ranking he is always a dangerous player and the way the first set progressed on a tie break and broke Yuki when he was serving for the set , a close 3 setter looked on the cards until Yuki admirably stopped him in his tracks , Ito is one of the few players Somdev last played in his last remaining 3-4 challengers losses and who had a hand in Somdev's retirement.

Really good straight sets win over baseline grinder ... Next, he is facing Blaz Kavcic.

Jeevan and Rungkat started with expected tight win over Chinese pair ... Both sets won by Jeevan-Chris on identical tie-break score ... Next, they r facing Taipei-South African pair.

[R2] (PR) Yuki Bhambri (IND,307) vs (4) Blaz Kavcic (SLO,136)

Doubles
[R1] (4) Christopher Rungkat (INA)/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) bt (WC) Di Wu (CHN)/ Zhizhen Zhang (CHN) 76(5) 76(5)

[QF] (4) Christopher Rungkat (INA)/ Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan (IND) vs Ruan Roelofse (RSA)/ Chu-Huan Yi (TPE)

Good solid win for Yuki...
One stat sums it up all.... On break point conversions, it was 3/3 for Yuki, while it was 1/5 for ito..... :D

Glad to see G1 getting a move on with a different partner after his R1 losses the previous two weeks......

Agree that it was a decent win against the kind of player that often troubles Yuki. BTW, Ito is in pretty good form with a live race rank of 103 to Yuki's 106. He has 1 challenger final and 2 challenger SFs in the current race ranking window which started in November 2016.

Interestingly, Balaji at #181 is the second among Indians in the race ranks although that is largely based on the Indian futures series.

Its raining here once again and is going to be a long wait until Yuki's match gets underway , as even the first scheduled matches haven't commenced play.

Matches have been shifted indoors , but it is unlikely Yuki match will commence anytime soon , even probably might be shifted for tomorrow.

Yes, Yuki's match postponed to tomorrow. First match at 9.30 am on court C. Don't think there is live stream for this court.

If he wins, he will have to play QF tomorrow itself.

Not an ideal start as Yuki gets broken twice to loose the first set 2-6
Hope he can recover and turn things around
