Re: Top 10 Indian tennis players ranking prediction for 2016

Interesting to revisit at this stage of the year in 2017... Sumit and Sasi are treading water. Yuki is fit but barely so. Saketh is still injured. RamK is shows flashes of improving and then regresses. Prajnesh is the only one who seems to surprise on the upside although he is also adjusting to the ...

Re: Sumit Nagal thread

What fabulous play from Sumit this week. He will soon be a serious challenger for one of the two Davis Cup singles slots. Look forward to that happening soon. Howevèr, he needs to win some matches at the challenger main draw level before he should be seriously considered. In the meanwhile it will b...

The lame performances from the men continued. We would have put up a better fight if our women had played earlier in this tie...

Re: Roland Garros 2017

Fully agree with Prashant's observation on Yuki's game. Clearly, hard courts are his best surface. In theory, he may be OK on grass unless he runs into a big server. Otherwise, he dictates and wins relatively short points with his ground strokes keyed to a good return of serve (when receiving) or on...

Re: Sudirman Cup 2017

Other than Srikanth's win, the Indian men have been pretty bad. Sindhu is looking like a world beater and the women's doubles team has also played well.

Re: Roland Garros 2017

Yes, the lack of a big serve will likely hurt Yuki on grass although the rest of his game should do pretty well on grass. More importantly, it will probably do less damage to his elbows, knees etc...

Why? Clearly this is an absurd question from a tennis perspective as elegantly outlined by many above. Do you have other considerations that are in your mind?

Re: Roland Garros 2017

Of course, that was on hard courts. Some of the discussion above is pretty ill-informed when you account for the fact that clay isn't a particularly good surface for Yuki on his current fitness and recovery state. Obviously, that is something he understands and intentionally chose to play exactly no...

Re: Roland Garros 2017

Disappointing performances for both Indians!

Probably better for Yuki to move on from clay as you have to hit a lot of balls to win points on clay which probably isn't the best for either his elbow or his knee...

I t will be touch and go as technically 9 month period ends on June 25 a day before Wimbledon qualies star t. As of now Yuki has used up 5 of his 9 SE spots. He will use the 6th one next week at French open qualies. 3 more left. Just saw that he has entered Surbiton challenger starting June 5 using...

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

This may also be a career prolonging effort. I believe with the new racket technology and the slower courts, players have to hit more balls and hit harder for every point and this has the effect of increasing wear and tear and injury on the body. Perhaps, he feels that he'll have to hit way more bal...
