Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

I think he also has a loss to Rublev in that span but even at 4-2 this is his best run against quality opposition in the 100-200 range. Hopefully, he'll go further here...

Re: Indian Gymnastics thread

Recovery from an ACL surgery normally takes quite a bit of time. In US professional sports, it is generally a year or more before an athlete is able to perform at their previous top level even if they can get back to training earlier.

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

Wow, great news! Stepped away from a meeting and RamK finished the job quickly for a signature win over the Canadian #3 in the US and potential DC opponent if Raonic isn't available. Yes, a deep challenger is run is due...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

Yes, this is the kind of match you have to win to progress at the challenger level. #263 is probably among the lowest ranked player in the main draw, so Prajnesh should have no complaints on the draw...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

As you can see in the highlights, Prajnesh could hardly win any points on the Canadian's serve.

Good sign that he is actually entering tournaments instead of withdrawing from them. Seems to indicate that he feels ready to play. Keeping fingers crossed....

Re: Indian Badminton Thread ...

I think some of these Chinese are underranked as they just haven't played enough ranking tournaments given the depth in Chinese badminton and international participation appears to be a federation controlled effort rather than a true professional type participation where everyone is playing as much ...

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

Yes, his results have looked much better in the last few weeks even though he has relatively few points to show for it. However, if he can keep winning at the challenger level, the points will eventually come. Good luck to him in the next few weeks although I wonder if he would actually do better by...

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi thread...

Also worth noting that developing a top 100 tennis player is quite tough as tennis is a widely played professional sport compared to the more regional (and amateur) sports. See China as an example, where their academy model have struggled as well in the top professional sports (tennis, soccer, baske...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

Excellent win by RamK after some close misses in the recent past! Looks like he is now ready to make the transition to the challenger level (i.e., win matches consistently at the challenger level).

Re: Singapore Open Super Series 2017

Awesome dominating wins in the semis! They seem to be getting better as the tournament went on, so perhaps confidence is a factor in their performance. May the best man win in the finals!
