Re: Indian Women Hockey

Interesting article by our new coach: http://stick2hockey.com/Article/Indian-Express--Improving-fitness,-mental-toughness-key,-says-Coach-Marijne-Sjoerd/News-Paper-Articles/46/14132~14131~14130~14128~14127~14126~14125~14124~14123~14122~14121~14120~14119~14118~14117~14116~14115~14113~14112~14109/1413...

Re: Junior Indian Hockey - men and women

Our U18 boys have won the Asia Cup by beating Malaysia 5-1 in the final. The rest of the competition was pathetic. Pakistan, Korea and Bangladesh did not send their teams. Still, nice to win this tournament so convincingly. Both finalists scored over 10 goals in every match.

Re: Indian Women Hockey

We won the HWL 2 by beating Chile in a penalty shoot out after the teams tied 1-1. Really pleased to see us take the title, but the results and performances weren't too impressive. We played 4 matches, beating Belarus twice and drew with Uruguay and Chile, getting wins in these 2 matches via a shoot...

After some mediocre results, we finally got a good performance in the semi final. We beat Belarus 4-0 and will play Chile in the final today.

Re: Indian Women Hockey

Yes, not a great start for the new coach. We are going to meet Canada in the semi final. Only the finalists progress to the next stage in the WC qualification process. We lost 3-1 to Canada last week in a warm up game. So we need a big improvement in performance, otherwise we are going to be elimina...

Re: Indian Women Hockey

Our women start their HWL 2 tournament in West Vancover in a couple of hours. http://fih.ch/events/hockey-world-league/2017-women-hockey-world-league-round-2-west-vancouver-can/ We are the highest ranked team and should win this, but played poorly in a couple of warm up matches- losing 3-1 to Canada...

Re: Test series in 2017

Close catching in general was poor. There were far too many chances dropped in the slips. Umesh suffered the worst.

Re: Test series in 2017

Great to win the series, especially after the dreadful performance in the 1st test. Several special performances throughout this series and during the entire season. Jadeja has been outstanding. Surprisingly, today's chase proved much easier than I expected. However, these Aussies are tough to beat....

Re: Test series in 2017

87 needed tomorrow. Bet it won't be easy. We need to be positive and knock off another 20+ without losing a wicket to ease the pressure. Might be a good idea to promote Jadeja to no 4 to get a quick 20 and then leave only a few runs for the remaining batsmen.

Even 120 might be too many on this pitch and with our batting

Re: Test series in 2017

Expected rubbish from the last few wickets. Now watch our quicks get thrashed and Australia to lead within 8 overs? Unless Jadeja or Kuldeep do something magical, Australia are going to win this. Nair is continuing to be a waste of space , both with batting and dropped catches- he's just let off War...

Re: Test series in 2017

Australia's day. Our batting looks too fragile, with only Rahul and Pujara and to a lesser extent, Rahane in good form. Nair and Vijay have done nothing in this series. Let's hope Jadeja bats for another 15-20 overs and the tail doesn't cave in too easily. Whatever we manage with the last 4 wickets,...

Re: Misc. news about Indian hockey

Looks like Raghunath is not in Oltmans' plans: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/hockey/top-stories/dont-see-raghunath-coming-back-oltmans/articleshow/57684350.cms I have been a critic for a long time, but would say he scored some vital goals for us as well as defending gallantly on PCs and ...
