Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

He sure did...won it 6-1, 7-5! Next up is James Mcgee, a player ranked 200 with not a great a track record this year. If RamK continues to show this kind of form and hunger, he should win his R2 match.

Re: Prarthana Thombare thread

wow...wow...wow!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

For her perseverance, Prarthana badly needed this kind of a break. She truly deserves one! It will be nice if she and Xun can use this huge upset as a pedestal to go deeper in this Challenger.

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

Looks like they were totally outplayed in both tie-breaks losing them very meekly. In contrast, they won 4 out of last week's 5 matches in MTBs. Except for the one against the #1 pair (where they were stretched to a 13-11 win), they dominated the other 3 MTBs by winning them easily at 2, 6, and 4. N...

Omkara wrote:Varna, the way suresh wrote it looks like Vatsal lost in the final

Sorry, I think I misread the last sentence of Suresh's post :(. Very impressive run, nevertheless!

Way to go, Vatsal!

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

Wait! Otte had to play qualies to get into the main draw last week. He played a total of 7 singles matches (with one walk-over given by his opponent in Q3) for a total of 12 sets. Additionally, he also made it to the doubles finals last week (4 more matches). This guy must be aching all over. I see ...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

If Otte is in piping hot form, Prajnesh is not too far behind. Our guy beat a higher ranked Egyptian player yesterday. The day before, he beat Molchanov, who not too long ago was ranked as high as 169. Couple of days prior to that, he fought closely for a set with 118th ranked Canadian, Vasek Posipi...

Re: Indian Badminton Player Rankings

I am eagerly waiting to see this guy, Swastikraj Rankireddy, go places. A lot is being expected of this 17-year old. Good to see several youngsters choosing doubles very early in their career, which is what Gopi cited as a challenge he faced in not being able to produce any top doubles pair thus far...

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

Good win by Bops & Cuevas against Rajeev & Klaasen to make it to the quarters at Monaco! In the next match they meet the newly crowned doubles# 1 Henry Kontinen, and his Aussie partner John Peers. [R2] Rohan Bopanna (IND)/ Pablo Cuevas (URU) d. (5) Raven Klaasen (RSA)/ Rajeev Ram (USA) 6-7(6...

Re: $25K Men's ITF Uzbekistan - April 2017

Vishnu should do something to give serious shot at a doubles career. I know it is very hard to get a steady partner and get to the next level, but there is no point in retiring as a perennial journeyman. He certainly has potential to be a better doubles player. A lot better than where he is ranked a...

Re: Mahesh Bhupathi thread...

I have zero hopes of Mahesh grooming the next best thing in Indian Tennis. His academy has been functioning for over a decade and has hardly done anything noticeable. I am not blaming him for not producing results, just saying that my expectations of him are zilch based on the reputation he had buil...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

RamK, with 57 points from 11 tournaments so far this year, would have been hovering around 29th place in the race. Most of the top 10 players in the race have played an average of just a little over 7 tournaments. Noah Rubin for instance, the 10th player in the race, holds a total of 189 points from...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

It's not like he missed it just because he turned 22 last November. Even if RamK was a year younger, any plans to target qualifying to Milan would have been an overly ambitious goal for him. There are way too many talented young players in that age group. Unless something drastically changed and Ram...

Harsh has to the most unluckiest Indian Tennis player ever. Even though he was a hardworking player and meticulous planner, that next step he was supposed to take and the next level he was supposed to reach were always tantalizing. He is the Indian version of "Tantulus" . Unfortunate, but ...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Prasen, these names get on my nerves every time I see the scores or read a match report. Nowhere in world would you find such a ridiculous set of names for teams in a professional league! I always wonder the same, "what the hell were they thinking"? Are these the best marketing guys these ...
