RamK is on a purple patch. It is ridiculous to see him not take chances at this juncture and chase bigger points in the Challenger circuit. This guy never ceases to surprise (or get on nerves) :)

Re: ATP Tennis/Non-India Davis Cup

Decision to skip French Open must have been a no brainer for Federer. He may have played had Nadal too was struggling just like the other 2 of the big 4. With the Mallorcan on Rampage yet again, Federer knows that he stands no chance, especially with zero match practice on clay. If his body can hold...

Re: Rohan Bopanna thread...

Cuevas' singles career is on an upswing at this moment. He seems to be one of those 30+ guys who are suddenly findng second wind that is taking them to heights they haven't reached before. I have a feeling that he will give singles a higher priority for the next couple of years. For a guy like Rohan...

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

I watched the 3rd set of Yuki's first round match and found him to be pretty fluid with his ground strokes. The Korean kid was not bad either. Yuki was too tentative with his finishing which resulted in a plethora of UFEs; way higher than normal. His opponent could not handle the pressure as they go...

Re: Davis Cup 2017 - India

That was a very well written article, indeed! Probably one of the best analytical pieces written about the saga of Indian Express. Even as he got the best out of his partners on court, Leander got their bad side out, off the court, leading to considerable friction. It had something to do with Leande...

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

wow...that was a huuuuuuuge surprise. I left for an early lunch with colleagues when RamK was down 1-4. I vaguely remember sneaking a peek into my phone for an update and saw a score of 4-5 with the Argentine serving for the set (not sure if this really happened, or I was hallucinating, though). I n...

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

I am not watching the match, but based on Sameer's commentary, looks like it just took one loose game to undo all that hard work in getting the first break back. Why would one come to the net three times in a crucial game? That too on a clay court! :damn: :damn: :damn:

RamK got his break back! They are even now, with RamK serving 3-4.

Huge loss. I remember being spellbound by his stick work as a child.

What did you mean, Prasen?

Re: Ramkumar Ramanathan thread

He sure did...won it 6-1, 7-5! Next up is James Mcgee, a player ranked 200 with not a great a track record this year. If RamK continues to show this kind of form and hunger, he should win his R2 match.

wow...wow...wow!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

For her perseverance, Prarthana badly needed this kind of a break. She truly deserves one! It will be nice if she and Xun can use this huge upset as a pedestal to go deeper in this Challenger.

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

Looks like they were totally outplayed in both tie-breaks losing them very meekly. In contrast, they won 4 out of last week's 5 matches in MTBs. Except for the one against the #1 pair (where they were stretched to a 13-11 win), they dominated the other 3 MTBs by winning them easily at 2, 6, and 4. N...

Sorry, I think I misread the last sentence of Suresh's post :(. Very impressive run, nevertheless!

Way to go, Vatsal!

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

Wait! Otte had to play qualies to get into the main draw last week. He played a total of 7 singles matches (with one walk-over given by his opponent in Q3) for a total of 12 sets. Additionally, he also made it to the doubles finals last week (4 more matches). This guy must be aching all over. I see ...
