Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Uthappa is batting beautifully but his 'keeping remains iffy at best. He's pulled off some good stumpings recently, but misses some pretty routine catches because his movements behind the stumps aren't naturally fluid. His innings yesterday was fabulous. I don't mind him being considered for a slot ...

Re: Prarthana Thombare thread

Great run to the final in this big Challenger for Prarthana, especially the victory over the top seeds (both ranked in the 30s) in the first round.

Re: Kanika Vaidya thread

Kanika apparently has been nursing an injury for the past six months and has only resumed practicing and training for the past two weeks. She should be back playing properly on the circuit soon.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

So Dhoni delivers at last (while Pant gets his second consecutive duck). Manoj continuing to bat too low in the order but he continues to do enough at that place in the order for his side.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Shakib should always have played, but he had a poor day as Gujarat finally won with their batting (with McCullum, Finch, Raina, Dwayne Smith, Jadeja in their line-up, it is a wonder it took this long for them to start clicking.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

There is a surfeit of 'keeper-batsmen in form. KKD, Parthiv and Pant are knocking on the door for Dhoni's spot, so the incumbent needs to demonstrate some batting form soon. His 'keeping against spin probably still gives him a slight edge over the others.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Rayudu has been kept out of the Mumbai Indians XI by Nitish Rana's consistency this year. Sad to see his eclipse so soon after he seemingly had secured his ODI place -- but lost it almost imperceptibly (and not based on any fall in his own performances).

Good to see that there is an Indian woman tennis player who may be under-ranked (Sowjanya)!

Re: $25K Men's ITF Uzbekistan - April 2017

Vishnu and Balaji have been reluctant to make the leap from Futures to Challengers, helped by the fact that there have been so many home Futures this year. But at least for the sake of doubles, they need to make that transition now.

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

Unexpected defeat for Jeevan/Rungkat in R1 of doubles. This will hurt Jeevan, who needs to start notching up some wins (especially in those STBs) to retain his top-100 ranking.

Re: Yuki Bhambri

Yuki is still in the entry list with his protected ranking at Gimcheon (Korea) but the following week has entered the Karshi (Uzbekistan) Challenger with his raw ranking (which gets him into the main draw there). Fingers crossed that he is able to play one or both!

Disappointing, but no disgrace for RamK. He fought tooth and nail against a higher-ranked player.

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

There is a Race to Milan for the ATP's new NextGen year-end tournament for the top 8 players (actually top 7 plus a wild card) among players who are 21 and under. RamK (having turned 22 last November) just missed out, but Duck Hee Lee is 21 in that race, and Santilan is 31. Sasi is 54.
