Re: General Cricket Thread ...

What matters is not the current valuation but the amount of revenue generated in the country. India provides 70% of the ICC's cricket revenue. It could be hard if the teams collectively bargain. However, in that case, the BCCI should lengthen the IPL to create a longer breakaway league and not care ...

Re: General Cricket Thread ...

The ICC today rejected India's demand for 570 million $. They are offering $400 million. The Indian board should just break away from the ICC, make deals with individual nations with lucrative payouts to the stronger nations, pay significantly more to the top umpires, and just implement its own bila...

Re: Mohammad Shahid passed away

Sorry for not being clear. I was replying to PKB's statement that he was the last in a line of great hockey wizards from India. I think Dhanraj was perhaps the last. I mean Sardara was good. These things are subjective and I am fine if PKB thinks that Shahid was the last and Dhanraj or Sardara (or o...

Not Dhanraj Pillay?

Huge loss. I remember being spellbound by his stick work as a child.

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

Seems like Dhoni is back and Pant is fading a bit in this IPL. Uthappa is looking to be in glorious touch and form. But, I guess selecting him for Champions Trophy on the basis of IPL in India would be foolhardy. Our openers should be Rohit and Dhawan (Rahul is hurt and out).

When this happens, the logical conclusion is that he is not tired but in form :-)

Or better still, make him run around and keep the ball in play. So, that he will be tired by the second set (preferably) or the third set.

Re: Taiwan/China/Korea Challengers- April/May 2017

You don't want to draw an SE because he/she is in form. However, sometimes, they may be tired after a whole week's play. So, if Prajnesh hangs in there, maybe he can eke out a win. Good luck!

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

The match was lost by Gambhir and Pandey. They could not hit at all. On the other hand, *all* of the Lions batsmen kept on hitting. If KKR bats had not been that conservative, a total of 200 would have been possible. Given the flat pitch and I think the ropes were brought in, no swing at all, it see...

Re: Ramesh Krishnan thread

Wikipedia (although I don't know how reliable, but, seems correct) shows Ramanathan Krishnan winning the Canadian Open in 1968. And, the tennis archive lists him as winning the Stuttgart Open in 1968. I think the ATP has incomplete data. His 1968 record shows only the Grand Slams. They do not have t...

And Vishnu and Balaji's rankings are in the similar range. So, they could potentially play qualies or challengers singles and doubles together.
