Re: Champions Trophy, 2017

Shami was Shami again. So, it seems like Shami may come in instead of Hardik. Given that we have Jadeja, Ashwin, and Bhuvi who can bat. Hardik's value is in his hard hitting.

That's right. They do whatever they want. Fans say whatever they want. Free for all. :-)

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

But, if Lee enjoys playing, why should others take it upon themselves to force their opinion wrt what he has to do with his life? Ditto with Sania. Why can't we just let them play? They are not forcing us to follow them. I agree with you that Sania-Hingis was perhaps one of the best partnerships San...

Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)

Gautam, game-theoretically, it makes sense. They actually think that they are not good enough or that because everyone else is using it, they cannot compete without it. If you think that to be true, your only choice is to do it and hope that you can avoid being caught. If you are not caught, you win...

Re: Sports and Performance Enhancing Drugs (Doping)

15 wrestlers, 9 power lifters, and 6 bodybuilders all test positive. Subrata Pal tested positive. More doping

And now, Rohit Yadav, a 16 year old javelin thrower, who was also a Asian Youth Games silver medalist winner, tests positive. Yadav fails dope test

Re: Head coach of Indian cricket team - 2017

As long as the people who are making the decision to keep Kumble or not are independent, i.e., not his relatives or close friends, etc., then asking for whatever raise he wants is okay. It is up to the employers to figure out if they want to keep him at the salary he demands or go elsewhere.

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

Mr. Ghosh is entitled to his opinion. However, the rest of the world possibly does not care about his opinion. And, Lee does not care and should not care about what anyone else thinks. As long as he wants to do it, he should keep playing. Ditto for anyone else. Sania. Yuki. Etc.

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

I think from time to time we are frustrated that people whom we support are not doing well. Then, we make emotional statements. In essence, Mr. Ghosh feels that there is not much point in Sania's playing because he does not put much value in a world #10 or #20 or #50 in doubles. But, I think the key...

Re: Roland Garros 2017

Hey, I am disappointed every time an Indian player loses. I am pained more when the loss is unexpected and pained less when it is expected. But, pained nonetheless.

:-) I think fundamentally we agree on a lot of things (maybe except Indian politics). Wrt sports, we like to quibble at the margins. :-)

Re: ATP World Tour Masters/ WTA Clay court season 2017

As long as she is getting entries, she should keep playing. If her ranking goes down and she is not good enough, then automatically she will not play. Whether to retire or not is largely based on a person's mental motivation. In a team sport, retiring may make sense. Dhoni is blocking a youngster. S...

Re: Indian Premier League (IPL)

This is a repudiation of the Dhoni doctrine. There was an international match where Gambhir was very angry with Dhoni because he wanted to take the match to the last over and win when Gambhir (and Sehwag?) had given a fantastic huge opening stand while scoring very fast. Dhoni lost that match for us...
